Massage Therapy – Frequently Asked Questions
Is massage therapy covered by OHIP?
No, but if you have extended health care coverage, you may be reimbursed.
Are both Ajax massage therapists registered?
Yes, both Rolf Castanheiro and Jessica Raedisch are registered massage therapists. They each have a registration number which they include on every receipt.
Do I have to be experiencing some form of pain or discomfort to have a massage?
Not at all. Many people use massage therapy to help them relax and relieve stress.
Do I have to get undressed?
Yes, but it isn’t necessary for you to remove all of your clothes. You will be covered by a sheet and a blanket and may keep areas that are not being worked on clothed.
Do I need to be referred by my doctor to receive a massage our your Pickering clinic?
No. You only need a doctor’s referral if you are planning on submitting your massage receipt to an insurance company for reimbursement. Many insurance companies require a note from your physician explaining why massage has been recommended.
Am I still able to have a massage if I’m pregnant?
Absolutely. Often, women suffer from lower back pain, neck pain or sciatica when pregnant. Massage can help relax the muscles that support your spine and help you stay relaxed as your body—and your baby—grows!
